Czech return to the World Cup after 20 years (last appearance — Germany 2006). In UEFA playoffs, the team defeated Ireland, and in the final beat Denmark on penalties. Coach Miroslav Koubek took over the team in December 2025, replacing sacked Ivan Hašek. The Schick and Souček generation — for most, this is their first World Cup.
